Wharton MBA graduate develops app that rewards you for safe driving

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving holiday! If you drove to share the celebration with relatives, or you still have a drive ahead, this story is for you.

A Wharton MBA grad has developed an app he calls “This App Saves Lives” that rewards drivers for NOT using their cellphone for anything other than streaming music, navigation, or hands-free calls while driving. The app kicks in once the car’s speed reaches 7mph, adding a point for every minute driven safely and deducting a point for every minute driven unsafely. The points can be redeemed at local businesses.
