In a new initiative, Harvard Business School’s MBA Admissions team will be hosting information events in 14 different cities next week on Tuesday, May 17th.
Look closely and you’ll see the cities are hardly the usual big-metro suspects. Only one city, San Antonio, has a population above 1 million; only 1 one, Baltimore, is a ‘coastal’ city; six are in Southern U.S. cities; and six of the cities have populations below the 300,000. Moreover, compared to the average per-capita income of the 10 largest U.S. cities – approximately $63,000 – the per-capita of HBS’s 14 chosen cities is under $54,000 (see table below).
Admitify salutes HBS for reaching out to applicants outside the major U.S. hubs to seek a broader demographic of potential applications. According to HBS, the inspiration for these events is HBS’s Field Immersion Experiences for Leadership Development, which takes all first-year HBS students to cities across the U.S. for a 9-day experience working as teams with local companies and organizations.
We encourage applicants in these 14 cities to attend as HBS current students share insider information on the HBS application and MBA program.
